Sport Club

Physical Education in schools  enhances two of the most important aspects of a student’s personality: their physical fitness and their mental well-being. Furthermore it helps to develop pair and group-work skills and discipline.

The school basketball club runs competitive men's and women's teams that strive to bring success to the school. With teams competing in local and national tournaments, we look for talented and committed students who are keen to embrace our exceptional team spirit. During practice sessions, as well as skills we build friendships; improving our unity and giving us the best chance of on-court success.

Beach Tennis is a relatively new sport which compliments traditional tennis as a pleasurable hobby. It is a game which merges the worlds of tennis, beach volleyball and badminton into one exciting sport. In Cyprus it has been played on many beaches for seven years with great success and it is becoming ever more popular. It is related to beach volleyball but played with a tennis ball and paddle or racquet. The court is a standard beach volleyball court. At school we play Beach Tennis on the Volleyball court.

Futsal is the astroturf version of association football that is officially sanctioned by football's international governing body, FIFA. The ball used is slightly smaller than a standard football, which develops better ball control skills as well as passes on the ground. The game was developed in Uruguay in the 1930 and quickly spread all over South America. Many of the world’s top players grew up playing this skillful and exciting game.

Table tennis, also known as ping pong, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth using table tennis racquets. The game takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce only once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. Points are scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage. When applying spin the hitter has a good chance of scoring if the spin is successful.
